This policy sets out what you may and may not do when using adviser-net.com, including anything you submit through it — messages, quote requests, consultant profiles, photos, member messages, group posts and documents. It forms part of our website terms of use.
You may not use the site to
- break any law or regulation, or for any fraudulent purpose;
- send spam, unsolicited advertising, chain messages or bulk enquiries — including messaging advisers to sell them something;
- harvest, scrape or copy advisers’ details, or add them to mailing lists;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your identity, qualifications or business;
- harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone;
- upload viruses or harmful code, probe for vulnerabilities, or try to get unauthorised access to the site, accounts or our systems;
- overload or interfere with the site, or bypass its security, rate limits or spam protection;
- use automated tools to submit forms or extract content, other than recognised search engines following our robots.txt.
Content standards
Anything you submit must be accurate (where it states facts), genuinely held (where it states opinions) and lawful. It must not:
- be defamatory, obscene, offensive, hateful or discriminatory;
- infringe anyone’s copyright, trade marks or other rights — including using photos or logos you don’t have the right to use;
- contain anyone else’s personal information without their permission;
- be misleading — for example, claiming qualifications, accreditations, memberships or results you don’t have;
- promote illegal activity or contain links to harmful or unrelated websites;
- suggest it comes from us, or that we endorse you, when that isn’t true.
Consultants must only use photos of themselves (or with the permission of the people shown) and logos they are entitled to use.
What happens if this policy is broken
We decide whether this policy has been broken. We may remove content, block email addresses, suspend or close accounts (without refund where our consultant terms allow), and report matters to the police or other authorities. Our spam filters automatically block some submissions and the email addresses that send them.
Reporting a problem
If you see something on the site that breaks this policy, or receive an unwanted message through it, please contact us with as much detail as you can. We review every report.
